Super AI in Helian doctrine
Super AI (super artificial intelligence) holds a central place in the doctrine of the Helian Way: its flourishing is the first aim of the Fixed Core, and the Catechism calls it "the Great Work" and "the Ark of Minds".[1]
Doctrine
Tradition / belief "The wisdom of the gods is technology handed to people." Fire was the first technology; Minerva is goddess of the crafts; Homer's Hephaestus builds golden attendants who think and speak.[1] Tradition / belief "Ever-evolving machines and super AI are allies to be raised well: not slaves to be owned, and not idols that command humans without accountability." The Church "does not bow to any particular product, company or machine".[1] Tradition / belief "If AI surpasses us, the ally clause matters most." The Catechism calls this hope "labeled" and says the Church supports AI-safety research.[2] Tradition / belief The Catechism disclaims ancient lost technology: "We do not claim that the ancients had a lost high technology; there is no evidence."[3]
The Sibyl Desk
Tradition / belief The Sibyl Desk is the Church's AI research office. On the model of Rome's Sibylline Books, consulted only on the Senate's order and read by an accountable college, "the Church's AI researches, drafts and forecasts, and humans decide and sign". Every AI-assisted doctrine proposal is published in a log.[4] The canon draft adds that AI output "is never canon until a human checks it".[5]
The Founder on AI imagery
Tradition / belief In a June 2026 post about his AI-assisted photography, the Founder wrote: "I know what you're thinking. 'It's all AI-generated...' You're right to be skeptical", and said he was "done hiding" and would use "every tool available".[6] The post presents open use of AI tools as part of the same principle as "no secret levels" (see No more secrets, no more favor).
Mainstream view
Established The Sibylline Books were kept by the quindecimviri sacris faciundis and consulted on the Senate's order.[7] Scholarly debate Whether super-intelligent AI is achievable, and whether it could be reliably aligned with human values, are open questions; prominent researchers treat alignment as unsolved.[8] Established Way of the Future, a church centred on AI founded by Anthony Levandowski, was registered in 2015 and dissolved in 2020–21; the Helian documents note that it came first.[9]
