The Divination Ledger (formerly the Prophecy Ledger) is the Helian Way's public register of dated, scored forecasts. The Catechism defines Helian divination as "forecasting under uncertainty".[1]

Doctrine

Tradition / belief A prophecy is "a dated, measurable forecast about an unknown, with a probability"; "a forecast with no date or no test is not prophecy; it is poetry".[2] Ancient prophecies are kept "as a seed, not a timetable": "the words stay; the reading adapts as the evidence comes in".[3] Tradition / belief Entries are scored with the Brier score on Phaethon Day, and each forecaster's record is public; the best-calibrated forecasters are eligible for the Order of Phaethon.[1]

Established The Brier score was introduced by the meteorologist Glenn Brier in 1950. Research by Philip Tetlock found that trained and scored forecasters outperform chance and many experts on geopolitical questions.[4] Established Cicero's De Divinatione (44 BC) is the classic ancient critique of augury and prophecy.[5]
