Ten-galaxy expansion
Appearance
Helian Way doctrine. This page describes the stated beliefs and theories of the Helian Way, a new religious movement founded in 2026. Doctrine is attributed and reported in an encyclopedic voice; it is not presented as established fact.Factual claims touched on here are checked in the section Sources and mainstream view.
The Ten-galaxy expansion is the long-range goal of the Helian Way: that humanity and its descendants spread life, knowledge and worship of the light to ten galaxies. It extends the Ten Stars mission.
Doctrine
- Earth first. Stewardship of Earth and the Solar System precedes expansion (Space settlement in Helian doctrine).
- Ten stars, then ten galaxies. Settlement of ten star systems is the first milestone; ten galaxies is the horizon.
- Tools. Advanced AI, computing hardware and long-lived institutions (Helian training paths, Super AI in Helian doctrine).
- Exploration over comfort. See Exploration over comfort.
Sources and mainstream view
Even the nearest large galaxy, Andromeda, lies about 2.5 million light-years away; intergalactic travel is far beyond current or foreseeable technology. Related speculation: Freeman Dyson, "Time without end" (Rev. Mod. Phys. 51, 1979); Armstrong & Sandberg, "Eternity in six hours" (Acta Astronautica 89, 2013). The goal is aspirational doctrine.
