From Helian Way Wiki
Helian Way doctrine. This page describes the stated beliefs and theories of the Helian Way, a new religious movement founded in 2026. The Ten Stars mission is the Helian Way's aspiration that free people will one day send motherships to ten nearby star systems, the first stage of the Great Voyage. The Founder: "There are 10 stars calling us … We must build a mothership."[1]

Doctrine

Tradition / belief The mission is held "as aspiration and work, not as a dated promise". The Founder's own estimate for ten motherships launched by 2076 is 0.05%, entered in the Divination Ledger.[2] Tradition / belief The Catechism gives the ten systems Helian honorific titles from the line of Light:

Title System Distance (ly)
Hyperion Alpha Centauri 4.2–4.4
Theia Barnard's Star 6.0
Eos Wolf 359 7.9
Selene Lalande 21185 8.3
Astraea Sirius 8.6
Eosphoros Epsilon Eridani 10.5
Hesperos Ross 128 11.0
Asteria 61 Cygni 11.4
Phoebe Procyon 11.5
Helios Minor Tau Ceti 11.9

Established Proxima Centauri b, a planet in its star's habitable zone, was announced in 2016.[4] Established Even at 10% of light speed, the nearest star is more than forty years away. Breakthrough Starshot (announced 2016) studies gram-scale light-sail probes at about 20% of light speed; crewed interstellar travel has no current engineering path.[5]
