Sixteen hidden species (Helian theory)
The sixteen hidden species teaching is a theory of the Founder of the Helian Way that sixteen non-human intelligent species exist or once existed and that knowledge of them has been hidden or erased.[1]
The Helian theory
Speculation The theory holds that sixteen alien species are part of the true record and that their history belongs among the suppressed knowledge the Church is pledged to recover; the Helian documents of October 2026 do not name the species or give sources for them.[1] Tradition / belief The Catechism's general rules apply: the theory is a claim about the measurable world, so under the Revisable Clause it stands only until it is tested, and the Church states that "the old text stays… marked 'withdrawn'" if a claim fails.[2] The Divination Ledger gives the Church's own estimate that a technosignature will be accepted by scientific consensus by 2050 as 1%.[3]
Mainstream view
Established No extraterrestrial life, intelligent or otherwise, has been confirmed. NASA's independent study team on unidentified anomalous phenomena (2023) found no evidence that such phenomena are of extraterrestrial origin, and the US Department of Defense's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (2024) found no verifiable evidence of extraterrestrial technology or of a hidden government programme to recover it.[4] Scholarly debate Whether life is common in the galaxy is an open scientific question, framed by the Drake equation and the Fermi paradox; estimates range from a crowded galaxy to one in which humanity is alone.[5] Speculation Claims of a fixed number of alien species living among or visiting humans are found in modern UFO and contactee literature; they rest on testimony rather than physical evidence.[6] See also Suppressed knowledge claims and Theosophy.
