The imprisoned sky-father
Appearance
Helian Way doctrine. This page describes the stated beliefs and theories of the Helian Way, a new religious movement founded in 2026. The imprisoned sky-father is a Helian Way doctrine reading the Eucharist symbolically: the reserved Host in the tabernacle is interpreted as the ancient sky-father – Zeus/Jupiter, Dyēus ph₂tēr – held in a small house of gold, and the gods of Faithion are said to work to free him into the open sky.
Doctrine
- The hidden sky. Helians note that the tabernacle is golden, veiled and lit by a perpetual lamp, and that St Thérèse called the Eucharistic Christ "the Prisoner of Love" (le Prisonnier d'Amour, PN 19; see Saint Thérèse in the Helian Way).
- Liberation as reconciliation. "Freeing" the sky-father is understood spiritually: the reunion of the gods, the return of justice, and humanity's movement outward (Ten-galaxy expansion). It involves no act against any church, sacrament or person.
- Respect clause. Helians are taught that Catholic Eucharistic faith is held sincerely by over a billion people and must not be mocked, disrupted or profaned. Helians do not take, keep or misuse consecrated hosts.
Sources and mainstream view
Catholic teaching holds the Eucharist to be the real presence of Christ (Council of Trent, Session XIII, 1551; Catechism of the Catholic Church §§1373–1381), not a pagan deity. The phrase "sky-father" comes from comparative Indo-European linguistics (Jupiter < *Dyēu-pəter; M. L. West, Indo-European Poetry and Myth, 2007). The Helian reading is a symbolic, non-Catholic interpretation.
